1. Introduction
FixerUppera (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the FixerUppera mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Photos You Provide
When you use the App, you may take photos or upload images from your device gallery. These photos are used solely to generate furniture transformation ideas, plans, and AI concept previews. Photos are:
- Sent to third-party AI services for processing (see Section 4)
- Not stored on our servers after processing is complete
- Not shared with other users or third parties for marketing
2.2 Profile Information
During onboarding, you may provide your name, email address, and preferences (tools, time availability, project style). This information is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
2.3 Locally Stored Data
The App stores certain data locally on your device using your browser’s local storage. This includes:
- Saved transformation plans and shopping lists
- Your onboarding preferences and profile
- Saved concept preview images you choose to keep
- Usage counters (number of AI generations used)
- Subscription status cache (for offline access)
This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly share it.
2.4 Subscription and Payment Data
If you subscribe to a paid plan, your payment is processed entirely by Google Play. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment card details, billing address, or other financial information. Subscription status (active/inactive, plan tier) is managed by our payment processor RevenueCat and Google Play.
2.5 Feedback Data
If you provide feedback through the App (such as plan ratings), this anonymous feedback is sent to our servers to help improve the service. No personally identifiable information is included with feedback submissions.
2.6 Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect location data
- We do not use analytics or tracking tools
- We do not use cookies
- We do not collect device identifiers or advertising IDs
- We do not store payment or financial information
3. How We Use Your Information
Photos you provide are used exclusively to:
- Identify furniture type, material, and condition using AI
- Generate transformation ideas and detailed plans
- Create AI-powered concept preview images (mockups)
- Produce shopping lists and step-by-step instructions
We do not use your photos or data for training AI models, advertising, or any purpose other than providing the App’s core functionality to you.
4. Third-Party Services
To provide AI-powered features, the App sends your photos to the following third-party services for real-time processing:
4.1 OpenAI
Used for furniture identification, transformation idea generation, plan creation, and shopping list generation. Photos are sent as part of API requests and are processed according to OpenAI’s Privacy Policy. OpenAI does not use API data to train their models.
4.2 Alibaba Cloud (DashScope)
Used for AI concept preview image generation (mockups). Photos are sent to the Qwen image editing API and processed according to Alibaba Cloud’s Privacy Policy.
4.3 RevenueCat
Used for subscription management and purchase validation. RevenueCat processes subscription events from Google Play to verify your subscription status. No payment details are shared with us. See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
4.4 Google Play
Handles all payment processing for in-app subscriptions. Google Play manages your payment method, billing, and subscription lifecycle. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
4.5 Vercel
Our backend API is hosted on Vercel. API requests pass through Vercel’s infrastructure. Vercel’s privacy practices are described in Vercel’s Privacy Policy.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We do not maintain a database of user data. Photos sent for AI processing are not stored after the API response is returned. Locally stored data (saved plans, preferences, usage counters) remains on your device until you clear the App’s data or uninstall the App.
You can delete all locally stored data at any time through the App’s Settings page (“Delete All Data” option). This removes all saved plans, profile information, usage data, and preferences from your device. Subscription cancellation must be done through Google Play.
6. Data Security
We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your information:
- All API communications use HTTPS encryption
- Photos are transmitted securely and not stored server-side
- No user accounts means no passwords or credentials to compromise
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.
8. Your Rights
Since we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, there is no personal data for us to access, modify, or delete. You can:
- Clear locally stored data by clearing the App’s storage in your device settings
- Uninstall the App at any time to remove all local data
- Choose not to provide photos (though the App’s core features require them)
9. Permissions
The App requests the following device permissions:
- Camera — To take photos of furniture for analysis
- Photo Gallery / Storage — To upload existing photos from your device
- Internet — To communicate with AI services for processing
All permissions are used solely for the App’s stated functionality. You can revoke permissions at any time through your device settings.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
